The Castle Inn Caldicot

We are a boutique country hotel and pub in Leicestershire’s Welland Valley. Set beside a brook in the village of Medbourne, we have 10 bedrooms, a restaurant and a friendly bar. Outside, there is a Josper Bar & Grill in a private courtyard and a ‘river terrace’. We refurbished the venue in

2022/2023, keeping its historic character, while introducing a contemporary, chic quality. We are proud to be at the heart of our community, but have also become a ‘destination’ venue, easy to reach from cities such as London, Leicester, Nottingham and Birmingham.

The Times called us ‘one of the cosiest places to stay in the UK’, the Daily Mail named us one of the ‘Best 100 Pubs in Britain’, and Country Life described us as a ‘stunning venue’. But don’t take their word for it – we hope you’ll visit and see for yourself. We look forward to welcoming you, whether you come for a quick drink in the bar (where walking boots and muddy paws are welcome),

an unforgettable dining experience in the restaurant, or a stay in one of our stunning rooms. Located in picturesque countryside just seven miles from both Market Harborough and Uppingham, we are the perfect place to drink, dine and doze.

What's Important To Us

Experience The Best In Catering With Us

Superb ingredients, seasonality and sustainably matter to us. And with our own farm just four miles away, we produce the beef, lamb and pork that appears on our menus, guaranteeing its quality and traceability. Guests also know they are helping the environment by keeping food miles low. The farm includes a herd of Belted Galloway cattle – a traditional breed that produces incredibly flavoursome meat. You might even spot them grazing the lush local pastures when you visit – they’re recognisable by their distinctive stripe!
